COVID-19 WHEN TRAVELING / WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

IMPORTANT: negative test required to enter the United States by air

”As of December 6, by order of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), all travelers to the United States by air must present a negative test for COVID-19 that was taken less than 72 hours prior to arrival in the United States.

 

For those who have recovered from COVID-19, a positive viral test result dated 90 days or less prior to arrival in the U.S. and a letter from a licensed health care provider or public health official stating that you have been cleared for travel is required.

 

This applies to all travelers two years of age and older.

 

As of November 8, travelers eligible for the vaccine are also required to be dually vaccinated to be allowed into the United States.”

Negative COVID-19 PCR test required to enter Canada

For fully vaccinated travellers:

  • As of December 21, Canadian citizens, permanent residents and Indian Act registrants will again be required to present a valid negative PCR test upon arrival at Canadian borders; the measure now includes travel to the United States, regardless of duration.
  • You must have proof of vaccination.
  • You must use the ArriveCAN mobile application with proof of vaccination and a preventive quarantine plan.
  • You must have your ArriveCAN receipt with the letters I or V next to the vaccinated traveler’s name.

 

Vaccinated travellers are exempt from quarantine and testing on the eighth day after their return to Canada.

 

 

For unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travellers who are allowed to enter Canada:

  • You must show a negative test result taken less than 72 hours before arrival in the country.
  • You must use the ArriveCAN mobile application detailing your quarantine plan.
  • You must be tested upon arrival and on day eight.
  • You must complete a 14-day quarantine.

Pre-travel consultation

The pre-travel consultation consists of a meeting with a nurse specialized in travel health.

 

What the consultation includes:

  • Complete review of the vaccination record
  • Vaccination update
  • Analysis of the vaccination standards established for your destination
  • Assessment of personal risk factors
  • Specific advice adapted to your travel style (hygiene conditions and planned activities)
  • Vaccination

 

If needed:

  • Delivery of vaccination certificate (yellow fever)
  • Delivery of legal certificate for the transport of syringes (Epipen)

Average duration of a consultation: between 30 minutes and one hour, depending on the trip and the itinerary.

All necessary vaccines are available at our center. Vaccination usually begins at the first visit.

 

It is necessary to bring your vaccination record and itinerary to your first visit.

Did you know that your private insurance company can reimburse you for all or part of your vaccination costs?

 

Ask your personal insurance company about reimbursement for vaccines. Some insurance companies reimburse up to 80% of the cost of vaccines. To verify the coverage of your insurance policy, we can provide you with the identification number (DIN) of the vaccine(s) to be received.

Please note that visits and vaccinations are not covered by the Quebec Health Insurance Plan (RAMQ)

The vaccination standards used by our clinic are established by the Institut National de Santé Publique du Québec (INSPQ), by the Programme d’Immunisation du Québec (PIQ) as well as by national and international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Center for Diseases Control (CDC), depending on the countries you intend to visit. The standards of entry in certain countries will be validated during the meeting.
