Hyperhidrosis is a disorder that produces more sweating than is necessary to regulate body temperature. The cause is unknown and it can affect several areas of the body, such as the underarms, feet, hands, and/or face. Diabetes, menopause, or certain medications can also cause excessive sweating. Your doctor should perform a complete check-up before giving a diagnosis.
Hyperhidrosis is not a health hazard but it greatly affects your quality of life; however, it is easily treated. Botox® focal injections are an effective solution for excessive sweating. Botox® is considered safe and effective when used by a doctor with specialized training.
