Pediatrics is a medical specialty that deals with health and developmental disorders in children from birth to the end of puberty (adulthood). By convention, we are talking about 0 to 17 years old, inclusive. Since before the post-puberty period humans are in constant transformation, the rapid diagnosis and treatment of pathologies are factors that can have an impact on the rest of the child’s life.
The specialist in this field is called a pediatrician. The pediatrician is in a way a general practitioner for children: it is the specific nature of the population he treats and the multiplicity of conditions specific to each age that makes the pediatrician a specialist.
NEW PARENTS?
After birth, a baby should be seen by a family doctor or pediatrician. However, accessing these health professionals is not always straightforward. If you are the parents of a newborn baby, know that it is possible for you to obtain pediatric follow-up at our private clinic in Boucherville with Dr. Lionel Alberti, pediatrician.
Health monitoring consists of regular contact with a doctor in order to assess the state of health and ensure the good physical and psychological development of the child. It is especially important in the early years of a child’s life.
