When to consult in pulmonology?

Shortness of breath, cough, sputum, coughing up blood, repeated pneumonia or bronchitis, wheezing or noisy breathing, breathing problems at work or in a particular environment; these are some of the most common symptoms leading to a pulmonology consultation.

A pulmonology consultation could also be relevant for an opinion on various chest X-ray abnormalities (lung nodules or masses, pulmonary fibrosis, chest ganglia abnormalities, accumulation of fluid in the lungs, etc.).

The pulmonologist also has expertise in the diagnosis and management of sleep breathing disorders, such as sleep apnea and nocturnal hypoventilation.

  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Interstitial lung disease / pulmonary fibrosis
  • Respiratory infections

A few of our services in pulmonology :

  • Simple spirometry
Spirometry, also called Pulmonary Function Test or Respiratory Function Test, is the most effective way to test how well your lungs are working and to see if you have asthma or COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease).
  • Pre/post Bronchodilator Spirometry
Spirometry with measurement of the response to the bronchodilator is a necessary test for the diagnosis of a chronic obstructive syndrome such as asthma or other COPD. This test is indicated for clients with risk factors or symptoms (wheezing, shortness of breath, cough) resembling those of asthma.
  • TFR – Test of Respiratory Function with methacoline provocation, also called Bronchial Provocation Test
