Internal Medicine

Internal medicine department in a private clinic

Complex case? You are in the right place

The human body is remarkably complex. Despite all the scientific prowess of modern medicine, sometimes a patient complains of an ailment that no one can identify. Some diseases affect more than one organ or system at a time, or are related to another condition, thus confusing the issue.

Note that no medical prescription is required to make an appointment with our specialists.

PRIVATE LABORATORY ANALYSIS

Lacroix Medical Group’s network of clinics collaborates with several private laboratories for the analysis of specimens in order to allow companies or individuals to obtain results within 48 business hours following the sampling.

What is an internist?

Internal medicine is a medical specialty. Rather than focusing on a single organ or group of organs (system), it focuses on the internal organs as a whole. When a disease or condition affects several different systems simultaneously and the diagnosis would require several specialist doctors, an internist is the doctor to consult. This is why it is often called the specialty of complex or rare cases. Thus, this type of doctor may be called upon to diagnose autoimmune or systemic conditions, rare diseases, genetic diseases of all kinds, immunosuppression, multiple pathologies (increasingly common as we age), etc.

Dr. Andréanne Samson, internist

Dr. Samson obtained her doctorate in medicine in 2010 and completed her specialized training in general internal medicine at Université Laval in 2015. She worked at the Trois-Rivières Regional University Affiliated Hospital Center from 2015 to 2022. Her medical practice is varied, reflecting the versatility of an internist and focused on the patient as a whole. She is therefore a person of choice to take care of several problems including, among others, diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease or to manage more complex pathologies, undiagnosed or refractory to first-line treatments. Dr. Samson also practiced as an associate professor at the Université de Montréal on the Mauricie campus.

She was also involved in research during her training and at the Trois-Rivières hospital center. By joining the Lacroix medical group, Dr. Samson wishes to offer high-quality, accessible and personalized care to each patient.
