In order to ensure optimum monitoring outside the clinic, our medical team uses many advanced technologies to record heart rate, measure blood pressure, assess lung pressure, and diagnose heart problems.
Do you have arrhythmia? This type of problem is quite common in the general population and is seldom dangerous. However, it is important to accurately identify the type of arrhythmia you have to get the right treatment and refer you to the right place if necessary. A Holter records your heart rate for a period of 24 or 48 hours, even while you sleep. Thus, if arrhythmia occurs it is recorded and documented, which allows us to establish both an accurate diagnosis and a treatment plan. We offer the Holter test and a reading by a cardiologist within our entire network of private clinics, with no wait times.
Like the Holter, the CardioSTAT is a heart rate recorder used for arrhythmia screening: the device records the electrical activity related to your heartbeat during the entire period it is worn. However, unlike conventional cardiac recorders, the CardioSTAT is very compact and light, making it particularly comfortable and discreet. By eliminating discomfort, CardioSTAT promotes the pursuit of daily activities, such as walking, exercising and sleeping, ultimately providing a more representative picture of your heart activity. It is even possible to wear it in the shower. The CardioSTAT test is available at our clinics under a doctor’s prescription.
Do you have high blood pressure? Nearly one in five people will have it in their lifetime. When left untreated, this common problem may lead to more serious health problems, including coronary artery disease (CAD) and stroke. The vast majority of people with arrhythmia have no symptoms and can therefore ignore their disease for several years before the first event, which in some cases may be a heart attack or stroke. It is therefore crucial to check blood pressure to quickly diagnose hypertension if necessary, in order to treat it effectively and avoid unfortunate consequences down the line. Given that it is sometimes difficult to diagnose in clinic, ABPM (ambulatory monitoring of blood pressure) may be prescribed. This diagnostic tool is very useful in determining whether the treatment is effective and adequate. We can test blood pressure in any one of our clinics, with no wait times.
A doctor will frequently recommend an ECG or electrocardiogram. It has several purposes including the diagnosis of angina, myocardial infarction, arrhythmia, conduction disturbances, or other abnormalities such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This test is often recommended as a preventive measure and available at any one of clinics, with no wait times.
Do you have asthma or lung disease? Spirometry is sometimes prescribed to assess your condition. This accurate test helps diagnose and monitor several lung diseases as well as asthma. We can also adjust treatment if necessary, to achieve optimal control of the disease and prevent its progression. The entire network of Cliniques Médicales Lacroix offers in-clinic spirometry with a respiratory therapist with no wait times.
